April Happenings
Hello!
I feel like I blinked and March is over!! But that’s okay because I’m so ready for more sunny days & possibly even some warm April showers.
Before I get into details, I want to make sure to remind you to read all the way through. You will be receiving multiple emails a month at this point & they are all VERY important. We want to make sure that you know all of the details you need to get you successfully through our busiest time of the year.

Our April Spirit Week is THIS WEEK! Please have your dancer come to class dressed in their best FLORAL FLARE, colorful outfits or any spring attire. Our basic dress code rules still apply: midriff & bottom covered, hair pulled back & appropriate shoes. This is going to be BEAUTIFUL!!
TOTS & LITTLES PARENTS
Please be sure to stay in the building during your dancers 45min class. We have had many potty breaks lately and it’s always best if you can manage those. It tends to happen that if one dancer needs to go potty, then all of a sudden it’s contagious!! Hahaha!
COLORING CONTEST
We are having our 4th annual coloring contest!! If your dancer wants to participate, please have them pick up a coloring sheet from the office & bring it back to the studio. Feel free to get creative & make your sheet a piece of art!! Make sure they have their name on it so when we pick the winners, we know who to get the prize to. YEP…PRIZES!! Please return your picture by April 30th to be considered for a prize.
RECITAL TICKETS
Recital tickets are ON SALE NOW!! We use a 3rd party vendor for ticket sales called Tutu Tix which makes purchasing tickets so much easier for everyone! All tickets are $15 plus fees and will be selected seats not general admission. Tickets go up to $18 on May 1st. Children under 3 can sit on a lap. Tickets are exchangeable but NOT REFUNDABLE so please pay close attention to the date of the tickets you are purchasing. Any and all ticketing questions will go through Tutu Tix after purchase. STUDIO M DAY – May 11th; 12-2pm
Please join us for an awesome Season 5 Celebration!! Saturday – May 11th, 12-2pm we will be having an outdoor (fingers crossed for good weather) party and we want your family to attend! Don’t miss out on pizza, crafts, dances, games & SO MUCH FUN! Plus, you will be able to grab your recital tank top!! Let us show you our appreciation before we SOAR into the end of the season!
BOOSTER CLUB HAPPENINGS
Our amazing Studio M Booster Club is hard at work raising money for our Competition Company. Their newest FUNdraiser is a raffle drawing for the perfect adult spring picnic: wine, cooler & pottery wine tumblers! Please click on the link to purchase a ticket!
The RECITAL Run-through
It is officially the time to start dumping recital info into your world!! I know you are so excited!! This section of the Happenings will consist of your monthly recital reminders & any new recital information…
- RECITAL SEASON CALENDAR: We have created a color coded Recital Season Calendar to help you stay organized during this busy time of year! Please print the attached calendar, hang it on your fridge & use the color coded system to find the correct schedule for that particular week. - SHOW DETAILS: Our annual recital – Studio M Presents…PARADISE – will be presented to a lively and fun audience the week of May 20th. Dress rehearsals will be scheduled in the beginning of the week & shows will happen on Thursday the 23rd, Friday the 24th & Saturday the 25th. Due to the Missoula Symphony performing the weekend before our recital week, our dates have been pushed through the 25th. We will be basking in the good PARADISE vibes at the Dennison Theatre. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
- SHOW ORDERS: In case you didn’t see the emails titled PARADISE RECITAL INFORMATION & PARADISE DETAILS 2024, please see the attached show orders below to find which night your dancer will be performing. There are three shows that we are calling ‘Experiences’ & your dancer will be performing one number for every class that they are enrolled in. The Recital Week Schedule is also attached which has the times for the MANDATORY staging rehearsals for each class. We realize that this is during the school year and there are many after school events but we are unable to be flexible as there is a ripple of consequences with every change. We are not able to make changes to these orders now that they are being released. We work REALLY HARD on our shows to accommodate as many requests as possible but with over 34 families with multiple dancers, we cannot put all family members on the same night.

- COSTUME PHOTO WEEK: We will be having our costume photo week May 6th-10th. Jason Tupeck Photography will be doing our recital photos. Please be sure to read through all of the information below. Full class group photos will be distributed to all students & individual shots can be purchased via a photo package. The full class photo fee of $20/dancer will be pulled automatically with your recital fee on May 1st. You can purchase your individual photo packet via the Parent Portal by choosing Classes/Events in the upper right corner of your dashboard. Please purchase your photos BEFORE photo week so we can be as organized as possible. Photo packet registration is open now.

Costume Photo Week will also serve as our first Dress Rehearsal. Classes will perform for each other with the mirrors covered so it’s more like the real thing. Please be sure that your child comes to class in their costume, with proper tights, shoes & specific hair. Please plan for your dancer to be at the studio for at least 1hr. We will try to get the youngest dancers done right at the top of the hour while the older dancers may stay the entire hour and a half. The Photo Week Schedule will be slightly different than your normal dance schedule so please double check timing.

- ALL STUDIO REHEARSAL WEEK is May 13th-May 17th. This week, we will be running our shows from beginning to end in Studio Montana. This means that your child will likely be scheduled at a different time than normal for that week. Tots & Littles dancers will be dismissed as soon as they are done with their Studio M Magical Moment bow. All other dancers will need to stay for the entirety of the rehearsal block. Please check the schedule below.

- STARGRAMS & SPONSORSHIPS: Tavja has sent an email out with all of the information regarding recital sponsorship for businesses & StarGram information too. In case you are new and don’t know what a StarGram is, it’s a fun way to give your dancer a shoutout! We design fun graphics with a photo of your dancer (or just text if you prefer) that is displayed in a slideshow on the stage backdrop. Please check out the examples below.

- RECITAL/PHOTOGRAPHY FEES: Recital Fees & full class photo fees are due on May 1st. Each child participating in the recital is charged a $40 fee that covers recital tanks, recital video links, props & set design. Each child is charged a $20 group photo fee as well.
- TEXT MESSAGES: Please be sure to visit the parent portal to check your text message preferences. As we get closer to recital & especially the week of, we will send reminders out via text. We can’t send them if you don’t allow us to via your parent portal.
- VOLUNTEERS: We are in search of volunteers to help backstage during the shows. If you are free and interested in the inner workings of how we put on a show, please let us know ASAP!

– Our next Spirit Week for the month of May will be April 29th-May3rd & our theme is WOWZA Studio M is PARADISE!! More details to come…
– Company auditions will be held on May 30th!! If your dancer is 9 or will be 9 before the end of the year, they love dance & would be stoked to perform around town plus travel to Montana based dance workshops, this program is for you!! More details to come…
REMINDERS
- We do not have a water fountain so make sure your dancer has their own water bottle.
- If you are sick at all, please stay home and use our Zoom option. Parents are welcome to watch class with this option.
- Make sure your dancer is following dress code. Basic rules: hair pulled back, proper shoes, belly & bottoms covered. Be sure to check your class description for more details.
- ONLY TOTS & LITTLES PARENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING. If you have a child in a Combo, Level 1, 2, 3, 4 classes, Medley or Merge, please watch via Zoom.
- Follow us on Instagram & Facebook. We post a lot about what’s happening at our studio & it’s an easy way to keep up. You will also get monthly emails like this!
